 How Does Artecan Work?

These free radicals damage the parasite’s proteins and membranes, leading to its death and thereby reducing the parasitic load in the patient’s bloodstream.

 Dosage and Administration

The recommended dosage of Artecan 60 mg Injection is:

• Adults and Children ≥20 kg: 2.4 mg/kg body weight

• Children <20 kg: 3 mg/kg 

Administer the injection intravenously at 0, 12, and 24 hours, then once daily until the patient can tolerate oral antimalarial therapy. Reconstitute the powder with the provided sodium bicarbonate and sodium chloride solutions as per the manufacturer’s instructions. Administer as a slow intravenous bolus over 1–2 minutes.
