Tolvaptan tablets 15mg
Tolvat 15 Tablet is used to treat hyponatremia (low levels of sodium) in patients with heart failure, liver disease and hormonal imbalances such as Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone (SIADH). Additionally, Tolvat 15 Tablet is also used to treat autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD).
Tolvaptan 15 mg Tablets are a prescription medication used to treat hyponatremia (low blood sodium levels), especially in patients with heart failure, cirrhosis, or SIADH (Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone Secretion). Manufactured by various pharmaceutical companies, Tolvaptan works as a selective vasopressin V2-receptor antagonist, helping your body restore normal sodium levels through water excretion without losing electrolytes.
Key Features:
- Active Ingredient: Tolvaptan 15 mg
- Drug Class: Vasopressin Antagonist (Vaptan class)
- Primary Use: Treatment of hyponatremia in euvolemic and hypervolemic conditions
- Form: Oral tablet
- Route of Administration: By mouth, once daily
- Storage: Store at room temperature away from light and moisture
How It Works
Tolvaptan works by blocking the vasopressin V2 receptors in the kidneys. This action prevents water reabsorption, causing the body to excrete more water through urine while retaining essential electrolytes. The result is an increase in serum sodium levels, making it especially effective for conditions like SIADH, congestive heart failure, or liver cirrhosis-related hyponatremia.
