Imatinib 400 mg Tablet

Overview:
Imatinib 400 mg Tablet is a prescription medicine used to treat certain types of cancers and blood disorders. It belongs to a class of medicines called tyrosine kinase inhibitors that work by blocking abnormal proteins that cause cancer cells to grow, thereby slowing or stopping their spread.

Uses:

• Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML)

• Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) with Philadelphia chromosome positive (Ph+ ALL)

• Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST)

• Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP)

• Other rare cancers as prescribed by a doctor

How It Works:
Imatinib blocks the action of the abnormal protein BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase and other growth-promoting enzymes, preventing cancer cells from multiplying and promoting their destruction.

Dosage & Administration:

• Standard dose: 400 mg once daily (or as directed by the physician).

• Should be taken with a meal and a large glass of water to minimize stomach irritation.

• Dose may vary depending on the condition, response, and tolerance.

Side Effects (Common):

• Nausea, vomiting, or upset stomach

• Diarrhea

• Muscle cramps or joint pain

• Fatigue, headache

• Fluid retention (swelling around eyes, hands, or feet)
