Adrenaline / Epinephrine (Generic)
Adrenaline (Epinephrine) is a life-saving medication used in emergencies to treat severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis), cardiac arrest, and asthma attacks by quickly relaxing airways, stimulating the heart, and improving blood circulation.
Adrenaline, also known as Epinephrine, is a fast-acting emergency medication widely used in critical care situations. It is the drug of choice for the immediate treatment of anaphylaxis (severe allergic reactions) caused by food, insect stings, medications, or other allergens. By activating both alpha and beta-adrenergic receptors, adrenaline works rapidly to constrict blood vessels, relax airway muscles, increase heart rate, and improve blood pressure, thereby reversing life-threatening symptoms.
In addition to anaphylaxis, adrenaline is also employed in the management of cardiac arrest, severe asthma attacks, septic shock, and other emergencies where rapid cardiovascular support is needed. It is usually administered via intramuscular injection (IM), intravenous (IV) infusion, or subcutaneous injection depending on the condition.
This medication is typically supplied in auto-injectors, prefilled syringes, or ampoules for hospital and first-aid use. Adrenaline must always be used under medical guidance, and patients prescribed auto-injectors should be trained in proper administration for emergencies.
Note: Adrenaline should be used with caution in patients with heart disease, hypertension, or hyperthyroidism, and only as directed by a healthcare professional.
