Diloxanide Furoate 500 mg (Generic) is an effective amoebicidal agent commonly prescribed for the treatment of intestinal amoebiasis caused by Entamoeba histolytica. It is not effective against extra-intestinal amoebiasis, such as liver abscess.

The drug acts locally in the intestines by killing the trophozoites of the parasite and reducing infection-related symptoms like diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and flatulence. Diloxanide Furoate is often used as a luminal amoebicide, either alone in asymptomatic carriers or in combination with other medications (like metronidazole) for symptomatic patients.
